🎮 My History with The Sims

I’ve been playing The Sims since it came out. I’ve also been a fan of EA games since the early 1980s. My favorite game of theirs is still Stuart Smith’s Adventure Construction Set for the Commodore 64. Anyone else remember that one?

🏠 My Gallery Creations

To help distract myself from being widowed, I started making content I felt was worth sharing in the Sims 4 Gallery. I never use custom content to build (though I definitely play with mods!). I currently don’t make my own CC—I’ve tried, but so far, I can’t make sense of the tutorials. *sad*

I made a video for my first house and may do more in the future. Each video includes music (provided by YouTube) to set the atmosphere. No speech—so if you don’t have sound or can’t hear, you’re not missing anything.

🧍‍♀️ Sims I’ve Made

Without looking it up, can anyone tell me why all the orphans (except Annie) have the last name Gray? The Sims won’t let you save characters without a last name, so I had to give them something. Gray was chosen for a specific reason.

🧪 Hidden Features & Fun Discoveries

Since joining Sims groups on social media, I’ve learned I’ve missed out on all sorts of interesting features. I’m sharing what I’ve found here. I’ll mark any I’ve personally tested with an asterisk (*). If you know of others, I’d love to hear from you!

  • In detail mode, a slider lets you change the size/shape of your Sim’s pupil
  • In detail mode, a slider lets you change your Sim’s posture (upper/middle back)
  • Pet vacuum for fur balls and other pet messes
  • Drones (possibly from Get Famous) that record your neighborhood
  • City Living has an apartment with a hidden chalk outline
  • Cats sometimes ride the vacuums
  • First person mode: Shift + Tab on PC; second joystick on Xbox. Warning: may cause motion sickness!
  • Place a stereo near a cow plant—it will dance!
  • Hidden Worlds
  • Max out culinary aspiration and food never spoils
  • There’s a “grilled cheese” aspiration
  • Mac and cheese cooked in a cauldron lasts longer
  • Brindleton Bay has a pet cemetery
  • Bird feeders allow bird watching—but birds may attack, and cats may hunt them
  • There’s a trash can that pays you to use it
  • Romantic Garden Stuff has a wishing well—you might get a “Bad Seed”
  • Form a group for better coordination at events like weddings
  • At the acting studio, placing food in your inventory spawns new food (still spoils!)
  • You can rename pet breeds
  • If you kick gnomes, you get electrocuted
