Evil Apples is essentially a mobile version of Cards Against Humanity. There used to be an online CAH platform with private rooms, but it seems that was only available during the height of the pandemic. Evil Apples actually predates COVID-19 and has remained stable—I’ve used it for years.
It’s available in both the App Store and Google Play Store (not sure about other platforms). As far as I know, it’s app-only. I did find a version claiming to support PC users, but I’m waiting to hear back from Evil Apples directly to confirm whether it’s legit, safe, and compatible.
Getting Started
After downloading and installing the app:
- On first launch, it’ll ask for your email. Enter it to receive a “magic link” for sign-in—no passwords or social media required. (When I first started, Facebook was mandatory.)
- You can skip the email and use a guest account, but like most things, that risks losing access to your account later.
- After email setup, you’ll choose a username, then tap Let’s Play.
If you’ve used the app before and realize you already have an account:
- On the email screen, tap Skip This to go straight to the username screen.
- Below the Let’s Play button, look for the tiny line: “Not new? Tap here to sign in.”
- This opens options like Game Center (on iOS) or Phone/SMS Login. (Sorry—I don’t know what Android users see at this point.)
Playing with Friends
To play with people you know:
- One person acts as host and taps Create a Game.
- The app generates a Player Code, which the host shares with others.
- You’ll need that code to join the room—no code, no entry.
App Navigation
At the bottom of the app are five icons:
| Icon | Function |
|---|---|
| 🛒 Shopping Cart | Buy decks, power-ups, and cakes/coins (3 tabs) |
| 👾 Monster | Enter Player Codes and accept friend invites (2 tabs) |
| 👾 Monster Head | Create a Game or Quick Play with random players |

| ⚙️ Gears | Account and Notification Settings (2 tabs) |

Tips & Extras
Decks: If you enjoy the app, they occasionally offer a deal to unlock all current and future decks. I grabbed that years ago for $10. You can also disable decks you don’t like—for example, I disabled the Game of Thrones deck since I don’t follow the show.
Gameplay Basics
If you’ve never played Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity, here’s the gist:
- Each round has a judge.
- Everyone else plays a card to fill in a blank (or blanks).
- The judge picks the funniest card—without knowing who played what.
There are two types of cards:
- Prompt cards with blanks (like mini Mad Libs)
- Answer cards to fill those blanks—sometimes these are images
As a player, your goal is to:
- Choose a card that fits the prompt
- Pick something you think the judge will find hilarious
